Are Mayer Air Fryers Reliable? About the Brand
Mayer started in 1987. Since its establishment in Singapore, Mayer Marketing has developed into a top supplier of high-quality home and kitchen appliances. KHIND Holding Berhad formally bought Mayer Marketing Pte Ltd in 2012. If you aren't convinced, look at their rave reviews online for their air fryers which are strategically priced low.
After the acquisition, the business refocused its efforts and is now committed to sourcing for its labels, Mayer and Mistral, and recognized manufacturers like Aqua Optima, Honeywell, and Naturai. Their sourcing philosophy is to look for companies and goods that are upscale, dependable, long-lasting, and affordably priced for the discerning consumer.
A powerful social movement lies at the core of their business. They want to reintroduce excitement, creativity, and fun to kitchens. Mayer wants everyone, from amateur cooks to experienced chefs, to enjoy doing their cuisine at home! Mayer Marketing has become a name consumers trust as a high-quality home and kitchen appliance supplier due to their persistent, committed efforts over the years.
Most department stores in Singapore and our showrooms and online store retail their products.

If you are starting air frying, we say go for a Mayer. If you don't like it, try other brands. Mayer can serve as your benchmark. Overall from our reviews that you see below, we found them to be very reliable workhorses, just that on some models, you may need to cook for a slightly longer time. And also beware of flaking non-stick coating. Battle this by always using aluminium foil or a silicone basket.

Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 5.5L Air Fryer MMAF501 is Large and Budget Friendly. Value for Money
We must admit, the MMAF501 air fryer is very big. It's great for a big family or people who love air-fried food. It has no problems from our test in fitting a whole chicken, though we are referring to a smaller chicken.
This ideal budget air fryer will give you a run for your money as it's priced at about $70 and has a 5.5L capacity. Hardly any rivals can match this price for the size. That is why the MMAD501 is such a hot seller for Mayer.
In our tests, the MMAF501 performed quietly. The electricity was cut off for safety when we pulled out the tray. We found it helpful to have a detachable basket for easy cleaning. However during our test, one of the rubber feet from the detachable tray fell out, so the tray will now contact the oil spilt over from food. We felt Mayer could have done something more intelligent than using a rubber foot which can quickly come off accidentally.
We tried using the MMAF501 to air fry some salmon and chicken wings for our test. The salmon was defrosted while the chicken wings were frozen before testing. The result was adequately impressive. The food remained juicy and fragrant, and the meat was not dry. We did not use any oil, though it is recommended sometimes to throw in a little oil, such as when air frying french fries.
Using the air fryer was a breeze; there are only 2 control dials to turn, 1 for the temperature and the other for the time. You must be cautious with the time setting as you can easily over-fry your food. We suggest increments of 7 minutes and checking the food at intervals. But just like an oven, be careful not to open and close the air fryer too many times as the hot air generated inside will quickly escape, and it can slow down your cooking process.
We liked that we did not have to worry about the kitchen being oily from conventional methods of frying with oil. We found the MMAF501 challenging to clean as the nonstick coating isn’t the best quality; the coating seems like and over time, the coating will tend to peel off. Once it peels off, you won't be able to place your food directly in the basket as everything will end up sticking and be a huge mess. The solution? Use aluminium foil at all times; you do not need to wash the basket.
Pros of the MMAF501: Value for Money for 5.5L, Large Capacity, No Frills
Cons of the MMAF501: Non-Stick Coating Hard to Clean and Peels off over time. Not sure if the Temperature is accurate as some food take longer to cook

Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 5.5L Air Fryer MMAF501D is a fully Digital Airfryer that is Budget Friendly. Good Value!
It's not surprising that Mayer, a local household name in Singapore, has 10 different air fryers to choose from. Here at Best Reviews SG, we are showcasing the Mayer 5.5L Digital Air Fryer, MMAF501D to test, which has a sensor touch control panel and a 60-minute timer, as having a sleek modern design. Its enormous size of 5.5 L makes it ideal for preparing Puff Pastry snacks, Chicken Nuggets or Crispy Fried Chicken for larger groups. The higher price tag than its rivals is mainly due to its digital functions.
Some platforms such as Lazada or Shopee will throw in freebies for you when you buy the MMAF501D. We liked the automated cut-off switch and overheating prevention because who wants to clean out a burnt air fryer?
The sensor touch LED control panel with 7 pre-programmed functions, accurate temperature and time control was a joy to use. The other Mayer models use a control dial that needs turning. Imagine turning a plastic knob while having greasy fingers. It's impossible! The heating was even and consistent thanks to the double-walled design evenly. To effortlessly wash off any extra oil, grease, or food stains, remove the frying basket and pot.
We found the MMAF501D much better than the original Philips 9220 air fryer. Overall it's easy to use and most importantly easy to clean. The chicken popcorn was thoroughly cooked and crispy outside during our tests! The MMAF501D has many preset cooking options, and you have to explore and search on youtube for recipes. The presets helped a lot too, ideal for no-frills cooking selection.
Again we must caution you that the inside part's coating (like a black paint coating) tends to peel off a little after a few uses. Besides this, it is relatively affordable hovering at around the 100-dollar mark and aesthetically pleasing! It functions well like any regular air fryer, plus when it’s done, it beeps digitally quite loudly, as opposed to the classic “DING” bell on the manual MMAF501. You definitely can’t miss that electronic beep.
Pros of the MMAF501D: Modern Design, Cooking Presets, Completely Digital, Knob-free
Cons of the MMAF501D: Poor Coating on the inside, which can be improved.

- Non-stick inner pot
- Cool touch hand grip

Power: 1400 Watts

Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 2.6L Air Fryer MMAF68 is a Compact Powerhouse, and Affordable, Plus it looks Cute!
Say no to greasy meals and spare yourself from heat, toxic oils, and messy cleanup. You can accomplish this easily with the MMAF68 air fryer because it is straightforward and quick to use. Now, you can deep-fry anything without using a lot of oil.
Get crispy fries and chicken wings in the MMAF68 air fryer, and the food tastes just as excellent as deep-fried food when less than 80% oil is used to fry it.
At the $70 price point, the MMAF68 air fryer works amazingly well. Our first air fryer from the same brand, Mayer, gave up after just over 2 years of loyal service. We worked the previous model at max temperatures almost daily.
We have also had more expensive models from Philips, but this MMAF68 model works even better. In our experience, the humble MMAF68 performed much better than the Philips air fryer. Mayer has the potential to last longer than its more expensive competitors and its pricing is very good! A lot of oil was caught at the bottom pan. So we can say that the MMAF68 works well; don't be fooled by its compact size. It's quite a mini powerhouse!
Be careful while you clean the frying basket. Do not clean it using abrasive sponges and handle it with care. Do not poke at or scrape it using metal tongs because the non-stick coating is thin and tends to get scratched easily, exposing bare metal which your food will get stuck. We found that a workaround was to let it cool down before cleaning it with non-scratch pads. Using silicone-based tongs or equipment works well when the basket is still hot. Again, our top tip is to use aluminium foil when cooking anything in Mayer's air fryers.
One problem we found with the MMAG68 is that the frying drawer is difficult to open and close. It gives some resistance, almost as if it was intentionally made this way. Perhaps it's a safety feature? Whatever it is, we wished Mayer made the opening and closing action on this model smoother, like the other models.
Besides this, the MMAF68 is a cute eggshell-shaped 2.6L air fryer that does its job well and can sit elegantly among your other kitchen appliances!
Pros of the MMAF68: Powerful, Compact, Elegant and affordable
Cons of the MMAF68: Anti Stick Coating is too Thin on the Basket, and Closing and Opening of the Drawer are Tight
Price of the Mayer 2.6L Air Fryer MMAF68 (White) and Where to find it on Discount and Instalment

#4 Mayer 3.5L Air Fryer MMAF88
- 3.5L / 1.2KG capacity
- Up to 80% Less Oil
- 30 Minutes Timer
- 200 Degree Temperature Control
- Non-stick inner pot

Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 3.5L Air Fryer MMAF88 is a No-Brainer Value for Money Air Fryer with No Frills.
A few years ago, the Air Fryer was all the rage. Because it uses little to no oil to “fry” food, it is considered the healthier cooking method. In this test and review, we put the Mayer MMAF88 Air Fryer up to the test. It's ironic because we don't cook fried food in our test studio.
It is pretty simple to use; all you need to do is put the food in the basket or tray, adjust the temperature by turning a single knob, and start the timer. It's incredibly practical, and washing is simple.
However, because of how small the tray compartment is on the MMAF88, not everything will fit. A fish a little bit larger won't fit unless you cut or trim it. You certainly can't fit a whole chicken into its 3.5L cavity. Unlike my trusted Toyomi oven which is larger than this air fryer, I cannot fit two slices of chicken fillet inside, only one. So if you are going for the MMAF88 model, be practical about your expectations in terms of size.
Additionally, fewer recipes for the MMAF88 Air Fryer are available online because it is a relatively new device. So really it's quite a guesswork when experimenting with cooking time and heat settings. After a few usages, you will probably figure out what temperature and time settings will work best for your MMAF88.
In our test, it only took 10mins for cod fish it tasted great, and the fish meat retained its juiciness and moisture. We thought the MMAF88 would dry out the fish, but we were wrong! Our standard test on chicken nuggets and wings worked well too. The best side? There’s no more greasy and oily cleaning after using this air fryer.
A caveat perhaps is that with the MMAF88, we found that we needed to cook for a longer time. Instead of 10 minutes, we needed to cook it for 20 minutes. We are not sure if this is a power issue, but we did not find it much of a hassle to wait for a longer time, so long as the food is cooked evenly and to a crisp. On most Mayer models, you may need to cook slightly longer. (as compared to the likes of Philips)
We have personally owned other models of Mayer air fryers and have been using them for some time with no issues. We found the MMAF88 more straightforward to wash than Philips’s frying basket. It came with a stand-alone metal rack that is much easier to handle. The heat distribution on the MMAF88 is not as evenly distributed as the Philips, as the base is flat and not ridged, but of course, you get what you pay for. At this price point of $90, we cannot complain!
One way you can get the heat to distribute more evenly is to open the drawer mid-way through cooking, and give the basket a shake or toss so the food can flip. This little tip ensures your food turns out crispy evenly.
We love how sleek the design is too with a curve and a flat top, looks pretty modern! 3.5l is the right size for most people and can quickly cook a portion for 2 to 3 people. We made seaweed chicken, chicken skewers and onion rings in our test. Everything turned out pretty well except the onion rings needed a little squirt of oil. Remember to add 5-10 minutes to the cooking times stated in the manual. Overall, given the price point, this is excellent value for money.
Pros of the MMAF88: Good Price, Nice Aesthetics, Good Size
Cons of the MMAF88: Need to Cook a little longer, add 30% more of recommended cooking time

Safety Mark : 190690-24
Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 1.5L Air Fryer MMAF89 is a Compact Powerhouse that Does its Job
To put things in perspective, the MMAF89 can sit exactly 7 chicken nuggets. That's what 1.5L gets you. This mini air fryer is perfect if you're living alone or looking to cook up a quick meal for one. You can squeeze or stack food on top of each other, but you risk getting that pale soggy look and texture on your food.
Be sure to remember to remove the 3 plastic protector mini clips that are attached to the fryer base before you use it. In our test, we did a standard chicken nuggets test at 200 degrees Celcius for 12 minutes, and it turned out perfect. The MMAF89 did not disappoint in power. Take it that it's a mini version of its 3.5L or 5.5L counterparts.
Where it lacks it makes up for in other areas. What areas? Colour, of course. the MMAF89 is one of the only models in the Mayer air fryer range to come in a pastel pink or a cool mint teal colour. How great would that look in your kitchen, plus it doesn't take up much countertop space. Indeed a refreshing breakout from the mundane black and grey appliances!
We say this is great for people who don't cook much but want to have the flexibility and convenience of air frying. This way you do not hoard large clunky appliances that end up shoved in the cabinet for donkey years. The MMAF89 is one of Mayer's best sellers, and it's no surprise why. It's not a masterpiece but a statement piece, especially for cutesy-look lovers.
As with the other models, remember to preheat the air fryer and wash the internal basket to remove any residue or dust from the factory; that should reduce the notorious plastic smell that some other users face when using the MMAF89 for the first time.
Pros of the MMAF89: Tiny and Compact, Good for Singles, Nice Colour Options, Powerful for its Size
Cons of the MMAF89: A Tad Too Small for 2 persons and above. Attempting to cramp more food results in longer cooking time.
Price of the Mayer 1.5L Air Fryer MMAF89 and Where to find it on Discount and Instalment
Recommended Retail Price of the MMAF88 is $55.00 on Mayer's Website, and offered at 3 instalments of $18.33 via atome's Paylater instalment scheme

Editor's Opinion and Review: Do we recommend it? The Mayer 3L Air Fryer MMAF3000 is a good balance between the 5.5L and 1.5L models.
The MMAF3000 came in its classic egg shape, in a teal blue (think Tiffany blue), pastel pink, and a Disney cutesy version, a collaboration between Disney and Mayer. You pay a premium for the Disney version though. We wish the inner pot were deeper on this 3 Liter model. While you can't fit a whole small chicken like the 5.5L versions, it can easily fit meals for 2-3 persons.
Before our first use, we preheated it for around 5 minutes several times to avoid the plastic stench from infusing with our food. We must note that we fancied the white temperature dial with black numerals. It stands out distinctly. We point this out because other models of the Mayer air fryers have a black dial with grey numerals.
We are not sure why some other users have reported that they need to use force to insert the basket or push and pull the drawer in and out, but on our unit test, the drawer mechanism was smooth. However, if you're a little OCD like us, note that the zero on the timer does not align perfectly with the plastic raised dot on the knob.
What we found helpful was the little icons for fish, meat, fries, cake, and other dishes with their recommended cooking time imprinted in white on the black timer dial. This came in handy, but take it as a guideline as you should check your food periodically for optimal results.
Pros of the MMAF3000: Nice Clear Dials, Beautiful Colour Options, Not too Big and Not too Small
Cons of the MMAF3000: Slightly Misaligned Dials, Plastic Smell on First Use (Remedy by Running a Few Times at 200 Degrees Before Cooking)
Price of the Mayer 3L Air Fryer MMAF3000 and Where to find it on Discount and Instalment
Recommended Retail Price of the Mayer Disney x Mayer 3L MMAF3000-MM is $98.00 on Mayer's Website, and offered at 3 instalments of $32.67 via atome's Paylater instalment scheme however, if you choose to opt for the normal version of the MMAF3000 without the Disney collaboration, you can pick up a set for as low as $55 on Shopee
