Top 10 Best Mesh Wifi 6 Systems in Singapore

Have you ever had internet problems while on a video conference while wandering around your house, or while watching a match in a specific area of your house? When you do, you may encounter a dead zone, and you will most likely require WiFi mesh. WiFi Mesh is a solution that was designed to minimize dead zones and give a stronger, more consistent WiFi signal throughout your house or office. Mesh WiFi systems are made up of a router that connects to your modem and satellite modules that are scattered across your home or office. With so many WiFi mesh systems on the market, how do you choose the finest WiFi mesh in Singapore? In this instalment of our “Boosting Connectivity” segment, we've compiled a list of the 10 Best WiFi Mesh systems in Singapore, with quality choices to fit your tech demands and budget. Let's dive in and review them!

3 Important Factors You Need to Know When Buying Your First WiFi Mesh Router

Picking the right Wifi Mesh system is similar to determining which Broadband provider is ideal for you. Having poor and inadequate hardware can and will result in weak and bad connectivity, so give it your best shot and carefully examine the explained capabilities of each of our reviewed Wifi Mesh recommendations.

    1) Simplicity to Setup
First and foremost, you should be informed that certain routers have a lengthy configuration process. As a result, you'll need a system that's simple to set up and can be done in a short amount of time.

Most devices come with a smartphone app that includes illustrated instructions to help you understand the installation procedure. It will assist you in determining the best location for the device for optimal coverage as well as provide other useful information.

You might even want to look for one with a mobile application. You'll be able to effortlessly manage Internet connectivity for all of your devices in this manner.

    2) Response time & Speed
The speed of each WiFi mesh system varies. Better speed allows you to have more bandwidth, so if you have multiple devices at home, you should choose the fastest option.

Especially if the devices are being utilized to broadcast numerous streams at the same time.

    3) Extent of Wifi Coverage
It's typical to have multiple mesh devices installed throughout your home. However, it's more cost-effective to purchase a system with more coverage so you don't have to buy as many.

Make sure it has adequate coverage to cover your entire house.

A detailed breakdown of the Amazon Eero 6 Mesh

Although Eero's mesh Wi-Fi systems have been available for a few years, the company's name isn't as well-known as Netgear and Linksys. However, because it is now owned by Amazon, you'll most likely see the Eero name at the top of the search results if you're looking for a new mesh system online.

Mesh Wi-Fi systems can be costly and difficult to set up, so the goal with the new Eero 6 is to eliminate capital letters (the company insists on calling the devices ‘eero') while also providing an affordable and simple upgrade for people looking to improve their home Wi-Fi. The Eero 6 is the first model to use the new Wi-Fi 6 technology, rather than being a ‘version 6' as the name suggests (aka 802.11ax).

      Features and design
The new Eero 6 has a pod-like shape that measures just 90mm wide, deep, and high, making it simple to put them all up without wasting space.

The primary router, which the Eero app refers to as the ‘gateway,' features a USB-C port on the rear for power and two Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired network connections.

      Performance
Even in a dead spot in our back office, where I generally rely on a PowerLine adaptor to offer a wired network connection for my office iMac, the Eero 6 showed fully competent in managing our 100Mbps broadband connection. It reported download and upload speeds of 100Mbps and 11Mbps, respectively, which is the maximum supported by our service, and those speeds were consistent for devices in the same area as the primary Eero router, as well as in the backroom with one of the secondary extenders. Steam transfers were also very strong, with both rooms maintaining a consistent speed of 12MB/s. Although the sophisticated capabilities of Wi-Fi 6 come at a price, if you're looking for a cheap wifi update that's ideal for larger homes with a lot of connected smart devices, the Eero 6 fits the criteria without breaking the bank.

Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Amazon Eero 6 Mesh Whole Home WiFi System Review
There are less expensive mesh systems that employ the older 802.11ac Wi-Fi (also known as Wi-Fi 5), but the Eero 6 is one of the most cost-effective ways to access Wi-Fi 6's sophisticated features. The Eero 6's Wi-Fi 6 features are designed to enable up to 75 connected devices at once since Amazon wants to sell you smart speakers, lighting, and other smart products.

A detailed breakdown of the Asus ZenWiFi AX Mini XD4

The ZenWiFi AX Mini XD4 is the first AiMesh system with both router and satellite hardware (or node). Other AiMesh systems use the same hardware because they all use routers. The XD4R (router) can act as the principal router or a node in another AiMesh system. But the XD4N (node) can only act as a satellite. No WAN port means it can't be a router.

The ZenWiFi AX Mini XD4 is a dual-band system that lacks the 160 MHz channel width needed for Wi-Fi 6. As a result, Wi-Fi 6's maximum 5 GHz band speed is limited to 1200 Mbps when working with 22 clients.

Notably absent from the ZenWiFi AX Mini XD4 is a multi-gigabit connector. Notably, it lacks Dual-WAN or Link Aggregation. No USB port either.

        Security and Parental Controls
AiProtection offers free lifetime Trend Micro Network Protection and Parental Controls. Sadly, the XD4 lacks both compared to the XT8. A two-way Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) protects the network from spam, DDoS, and other assaults. A time-based Internet access block is all Parent Control is.

        Setup and Management
AiMesh systems are similar in their setup. Setup the router unit as you would any other router with a web interface. (You may also use the Asus Router mobile app, but I like the interface.) The app is well-designed and has good router access. You can also enable Dynamic DNS-based remote access without an Asus account.

        Performance
The AX Mini XD4 performs averagely. On my test laptop (in the same living room as the router), it downloaded at 670Mbps, which is comparable to a Wi-Fi 5 router. The speed was 210Mbps in a remote bedroom with the laptop attached to the satellite node. We had no network failures or pauses when utilising the ZenWifi AX Mini XD4 as our primary Wi-Fi network. Use at least one more satellite node beside the primary router for the best coverage. With just one main router and one satellite node, we were able to cover our 600 square feet flat in Wi-Fi, eliminating most dead zones. The ZenWifi AX Mini XD4 remained reliable even while streaming music in the bathroom with the door closed.

        8.2BR score
Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Asus ZenWiFi AX Mini XD4 Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System
The ZenWifi AX Mini XD4 delivers decent coverage and speeds despite being smaller than the ZenWifi AX (XT8). Your devices should be able to enjoy next-gen Wi-Fi 6 speeds, even older devices will benefit from the improved coverage. Compared to more expensive devices like the ZenWifi AX, you will have to give up some features. No wireless backhaul means both network and node traffic is on the same frequency. Even if you use wired backhaul, you'll need a switch because the nodes only have one LAN port. The ZenWiFi AX Mini is a great alternative if you don't require super-fast Wi-Fi or have network connections and a small switch. But if you expect the same features and performance as past ZenWiFi solutions, the XD4 will likely disappoint.

A detailed breakdown of the Asus ZenWifi AX (XT8)

The Asus ZenWifi AX (XT8) is one of the greatest mesh router systems and Wi-Fi 6 routers we've tested, and it's also one of the best routers the business has manufactured.

Depending on the size of your home, you can have a single unit or a two-pack of coverage. There are six internal antennae in each ZenWiFi AX device. The two-piece mesh system we're looking at here covers between 4000 to 5000 square feet, while the single pack with only one unit covers between 2000 to 2750 square feet. That's amazing coverage, but you must consider how many walls and barriers there are in your property that could restrict Wi-Fi connectivity.

With a remarkable combination of features and performance, ZenWiFi AX earns its keep. With a total speed of 6600Mbps, the router supports tri-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on the 2.4GHz and two 5.0GHz bands (6.6Gbps). That's far quicker than most existing routers that use 802.11ac wi-fi, and even faster than many new Wi-Fi 6 routers.

          Setup and Management
The app will handle the majority of the ZenWiFi AX setting, and a connected browser will provide a more detailed look at the configuration. In terms of security, Trend Micro software is used by the Ai Protection. It not only depicts an assessment of the network's threats but also the number of attempts to destabilise it that was foiled.

          Performance
We weren't disappointed by the ZenWifi AX's performance either. And, more importantly, it was able to maintain that speed even in areas where we frequently struggle to obtain a solid wi-fi connection. The XT8 delivered exactly what I expected as a mesh router – hardware without Multi-Gig LAN or 160MHz channel width capability. The router performs better when used as a solo device or when the 5GHz-2 band is opened to clients. My Wi-Fi 6 client connected at 1.2Gbps and maintained nearly 840 Mbps at a distance of under 10 feet (3 m). The XT8 excelled as a mesh. With 850 Mbps close and 792 Mbps long-range performance for Wi-Fi 6 clients, the node (satellite) unit won. These outperformed higher-spec systems.

          8.5BR score
Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Asus ZenWiFi XT8 Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System
The Asus ZenWiFi AX has the power to fill a moderate-sized home with wireless data thanks to its tri-band design and Wi-Fi 6 speed. The ZenWiFi AX's two-year guarantee and built-in security may not make it the quickest mesh kit, but it can provide a family network's “administrator” piece of mind that the data will get through.

            A detailed breakdown of the D-Link COVR-X1870

In addition to dual-band AX1800 capability, the COVR-X1870 is Wi-Fi 6 compatible. This means it can produce 574Mbps on 2.4GHz and 1200Mbps on 5GHz. It has a quad-core CPU, 256MB RAM, and 128MB flash.

It has four internal antennae and supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology, which includes OFDMA packet transfers, direct-to-client beamforming, smart band selection, and WPA3 encryption.
It also employs EasyMesh technology from D-Link to create a scalable mesh network. It lacks USB connectivity and doesn't support 160MHz channel bandwidth.

            Security and Parental Controls
The COVR-X1870 lacks anti-virus and parental controls. Its simple parental controls let you create profiles for each member of your household. It lacks age-based web filters that automatically prevent access to adult content, but it can block websites and define access schedules.

            Setup and Management
Using the COVR-X1873 AX1800 mesh Wi-Fi is as simple as downloading the app and scanning the QR code on the quick installation guide. Follow the simple steps and you'll be online in no time. It can be controlled via an online console or a mobile app (Android and iOS), but only the web console has extensive options. You can use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands to enable or disable guest networking, but that's about it.

            Performance
COVR-X1870's throughput performance was mixed. On the 2.4GHz close-proximity (same room) test, it hit 97Mbps and got 40Mbps at 10 meters (30 ft). 569Mbps in the 5GHz band didn't fare any better. The D-Link COVR-X1870 AX1800 Mesh maintained steady speeds with no speed drops. We quickly added more devices to see if the connection weakens. Surprisingly, adding extra devices had no effect on the speed or connectivity. With MU-MIMO, it could handle all our devices.

Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the D-Link COVR-X1870 AX1800 Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System
If you’re looking for a Wi-Fi 6 router that you can press into service as a mesh system when you’re ready to expand your wireless network, the D-Link COVR-X1870 is a decent option for the price. It’s easy to install, offers basic parental controls, and delivered solid 2.4GHz throughput scores in testing. That said, its 5GHz performance was middling, and it had trouble maintaining a strong signal throughout our test home.

A detailed breakdown of the Netgear Orbi RBK752

The Netgear Orbi RBK752 is not only one of the best mesh routers out today, but it's also an excellent budget alternative alongside the top Wi-Fi 6 routers for a more affordable method to obtain Wi-Fi 6 coverage throughout your home.

The Netgear Orbi RBK752 kit is a smaller and less expensive version of the Netgear Orbi RBK852 kit. It uses Wi-Fi 6 technology and has two data transmission bands, as well as one dedicated to communications between satellites and the host router, which can help a mesh network run more smoothly. Although the machine comes with additional security software, you will have to pay for upgrades in the long run. Overall, our Netgear Orbi RBK752 review reveals that this mesh kit has the capability to provide Wi-Fi coverage to a mid-sized home. Continue reading to see if it's a good fit for your house.

A single RBS750 satellite add-on is also available, which allows you to tailor the mesh network to your specific needs. Purchasing the large kit, on the other hand, saves you around 30% over purchasing the devices separately.

                Setup and Management
With an uncomplicated setup method, the Orbi RBK752 kit follows in the footsteps of previous mesh products. You can use the Orbi app (which is available for Android and iOS devices) or a linked browser. When opposed to utilising a linked browser, the app provides fewer setting options. The app's main screen displays everything in front of you, including the online status, the number of satellites linked and links to critical operating parameters such as the number of connected devices and the state of the Armor security software.

                Performance
While the Orbi RBK752 provided a good signal in all of the locations where we needed it, its Wi-Fi 6 connection was significantly slower than the Orbi RBK852. The biggest disadvantage is the number of devices you may connect before suffering lag, rather than the speed or range. This means that the number of devices you possess is more important than the size of your home when choosing between these two Orbi WiFi 6 systems. The RBK752 is a tri-band system with a pair of 5GHz Wi-Fi 6 radios in each node to prevent client connections from sharing bandwidth with backhaul traffic. To keep costs down, Netgear used client-facing 5GHz radios rated at a very slow 1,200Mbits/sec, skipped 160MHz channels, and confined the architecture to 2×2 MU-MIMO. Given all of this, it's remarkable that the RBK752 performs so well.

                8.2BR score
Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Orbi RBK752 Tri Band Mesh Router
The Orbi RBK752 is the smaller relative of Netgear's Orbi RBK852. It doesn't put as much importance on raw performance as the Orbi RBK852, but it does contain an incredible number of customization possibilities. Although it is a less expensive method to mesh networking, the RBK752 is still one of the most expensive two-piece mesh kits on the market.

A detailed breakdown of the Netgear Orbi RBK852

The Netgear Orbi WiFi 6 (RBK852) is one of the first Wi-Fi 6 mesh networking kits available, and it quickly rose to the top of the food chain to become one of the best mesh routers available.

With a mix of strong throughput, a dedicated backhaul channel for data from the satellites to the router, and added online security, Netgear's two-piece Orbi RBK852 hits the mark for Wi-Fi 6 homes.

It's one of the greatest Wi-Fi 6 routers you can acquire, as well as one of the best mesh routers on the market if you want unrivalled performance throughout your home.

There are eight smart antennas in each device. The router and satellite handle 4X4 data streams thanks to the Qualcomm Networking Pro 1200 processor. The system can theoretically move 6Gbps of data back and forth using the latest MU-MIMO technology to handle multiple connections and beamforming to adapt the signal to each device's needs.

                  Setup and Management
Getting the Orbi RBK852 up and running is a breeze. You'll need to download the Orbi app to your Android or iOS device and then follow the instructions by tapping your way through them. You'll be able to administer your system via the Orbi app once your network is up and running. The choices aren't as extensive as you'd get on a gaming router, but you do have the ability to suspend Wi-Fi for particular devices or conduct a fast speed test. Given the system's price tag, I would have wanted to see some additional unique features.

                  Performance Overview
In most of our testing using Ixia's IxChariot networking benchmark software, the RBK852 set produced good throughput, resulting in a busy Wi-Fi network in my 100-year-old 3,500-square-foot home. It easily outperformed several Wi-Fi 6 routers as well as Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) routers.

The Orbi RBR850 router had an unrivalled capacity to punch a strong signal through walls and ceilings. It transmitted 670.1Mbps through a ceiling to a room directly above the router and delivered 782.9Mbps through a wall 20 feet from the router.

Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Netgear Orbi RBK852 <strong>AX6000</strong> Review
However, while the RBK852's performance was comparable to that of other Wi-Fi 6 routers, it lacks a few critical features for a system of this price, such as client- and application-specific QoS settings, age-appropriate parental controls, and anti-malware protection. It performed well in our 802.11ac tests, has malware protection and parental controls, and can be used as a home automation hub.

A detailed breakdown of the TP-Link Deco X20

The Deco X20 is your best pick if you're looking for a less expensive option than the Deco X68. The X20, like its sister device, comes with WiFi 6 technology, which can improve your home's WiFi performance by up to 1800 Mbps. Even though it isn't as fast as the X68's 3600 Mbps, the X20 already offers enough bandwidth for superb game streaming and immersive streaming video. Deco boasts no buffering and perfect audio and video, and the Deco X20 has been evaluated to link beyond 150 devices without slowing down performance.

Given its lower price, the X20 outperforms the competition when it comes to range. If your space is less than or equivalent to 200 sqm, a single pack can eliminate any WiFi dead-zone within your home. Even if you move around a lot, your WiFi connection will be consistent throughout your space. If you reside in a bigger area, don't worry; every Deco WiFi mesh system may be expanded. You may also acquire the X20 in a 2-pack or 3-pack variant, which can cover up to 370 and 530 square meters, respectively.

                    Security and Parental Controls
Aside from its speed and smooth coverage, the X20's next best feature is undoubtedly the protection it provides. You can already customize your home network with increased security thanks to the built-in TP-Link HomeCare. When you do have kids in the house, you can limit the amount of time they spend on video games and even ban access to unsuitable content. Every device linked to your network is also protected from internet dangers by the security system.

                    Setup and Management
We also appreciate how user-friendly the Deco X20 is. It takes only a few minutes to set up! All you have to do is install the Deco app on your iPhone or Android phone, then implement the on-screen directions as the program walks you through the process step-by-step. Do not uninstall the Deco app until your home network is fully operational because you can use it to administer your network when you are away. If you spend most of your time at home, we recommend pairing the X20 with Amazon Alexa to take advantage of voice commands.

                    Performance
With the capacity to expand a Wi-Fi network into unreachable areas of a home, the Deco X20 was an unexpectedly excellent performer. Two streams of 600.5Mbps each operate on the 5GHz channel (1201Mbps in total). On the 2.4GHz channel, there are two streams, each with a speed of 287Mbps (574Mbps in total). The nicest thing about the TP-Link Deco series is its flawless roaming performance, which includes complete support for 802.11k/v/r. For the entire mesh WiFi network, only one WiFi name is used. When I connect my phone to the mesh WiFi network, the system will automatically direct it to the best available network. On both wireless and wired connections, my download and upload speeds have been adequate. My network's maximum throughput of 300mbps is consistently achieved by my Ethernet-connected PC.

A detailed breakdown of the TP-Link Deco X68

The TP-Link Deco X68 has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and supports up to 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz network, 1,200Mbps on one of the 5GHz networks, and 1,800Mbps on the other 5GHz network. The Deco X68, according to TP-Link, employs artificial intelligence to analyse your home environment and give the finest Wi-Fi performance.

Deco X68 works nicely with 4×4 MU-MIMO to provide more bandwidth to all of your connected devices, which can total up to 150 devices at the same time. It's worth noting that the password and name for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz networks are identical, and they're inseparable. Each frequency, on the other hand, can be turned on or off independently.

It has a coverage area of up to 5550 square feet, which is more than most competitors. This makes it possible to provide fast and uninterrupted Wi-Fi coverage to more than four rooms.

                      Security and Parental Controls
The integrated HomeShield software suite for network security and parental controls has been updated significantly by TP-Link. To use services like real-time intrusion prevention and DDoS protection, you must now subscribe. QoS, or Quality of Service, is another feature of HomeShield that prioritises your bandwidth needs. It also has advanced parental controls that let you regulate internet schedules and prevent unwanted content. Finally, HomeShield generates detailed reports for you. You'll be able to see detailed information about your home network and each device linked to it. While TP-Link still offers a free version of HomeShield, it only includes basic capabilities such as network security scanning, internet blocking and pausing, and so on.

                      Setup and Management
We also appreciate how user-friendly the Deco X68 is. It takes only a few minutes to set up! All you have to do is install the Deco app on your iPhone or Android phone, then implement the on-screen directions as the program walks you through the process step-by-step. If you spend most of your time at home, we recommend pairing the X68 with Amazon Alexa to take advantage of voice commands.

                      Performance
The TP-Link Deco X68 performs admirably in terms of speed and reliability. While the X68 claims to be capable of 5Ghz speeds of up to 3,600 Mbps, we found that our average 5Ghz speed was approximately 700 Mbps, which is more than adequate. In our throughput performance tests, the TP-Link Deco X68 delivered remarkable results. The router node had a close-proximity (same room) score of 771Mbps and a 10 metre (30 ft) score of 298Mbps. The TP-Link Deco X68 satellite node produced similar results. In the close-proximity test, it received a score of 528Mbps, while in the 10 metres (30 ft) test, it received a score of 475Mbps.

                      8.6BR score
Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the TP-Link Deco X68 AX3600 Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6 System
When it comes to speed and reliability, the TP-Link Deco X68 works like a charm. While the X68 markets itself as being able to reach speeds up to 3,600 Mbps at 5Ghz, our average speed hovered at around 700 Mbps at the 5Ghz band, which is more than acceptable. With each Node our speed drops by approx 150 to 200 Mbps so to maintain decent speeds throughout our office, placement is to maximise coverage with a smaller number of Nodes used. Overall the TP-Link Deco X68 is a solid performer with not much to criticise it on except one thing – access to channel selection and fine-tuning the performance of the Wi-Fi network.

A detailed breakdown of the Xiaomi AX3000

The Xiaomi AX3000 router features the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology, with simultaneous dual-band wireless speeds of up to 2976Mbps, which is 155 percent faster than the AX1800, and quicker Internet speeds.

The Xiaomi AX3000 router also includes OFDMA technology, which divides a wireless channel into numerous sub-channels (sub-carriers) to form a radio frequency resource unit. Instead of taking up the full channel, user data is carried on each resource unit. Multiple users in the segment transmit in parallel at the same time without queuing or competing with one another, increasing efficiency and decreasing queue wait times.

While the Xiaomi Mesh System isn't the fastest mesh on the market, it can nevertheless give your network a boost. For starters, it enables 2×2 MIMO and a channel width of 160MHz, allowing for more data to be jammed into a single connection. Because the mesh architecture helps give a stronger signal over a longer distance, devices further distant from the router should receive a speed gain.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi AX3000 is packed with a new generation of Qualcomm CPUs, especially IPQ5000, which includes four concealed antennas, four separate signal amplifiers, and signal amplifiers for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. The signal intensity is boosted by 4 dB (PA + LNA), and the theoretical coverage strength is improved by 50%.

                        Setup and Management
This router's setup is simple and elegant. All you have to do now is plug in the router and attach the cord. If you want more advanced capabilities, check out the MI Home App, which is really useful. It will automatically detect your ISP's input. If you're lucky enough to get wired input from DHCP, though, you won't need to do anything on the device. I've broken down the process into bullet points to make it easier for you to understand how to set up your router.

                        Performance
The coverage and speed with which they provided it wowed me. My test laptop was able to download files at 710Mbps over the Xiaomi AX3000's network at close range, and at 251Mbps when I moved to 10 metres (30 ft) in the 5Ghz test. This is when things start to vary. The waves have difficulties flowing through the load-bearing walls, and the speed dips below 100 Mb/s, with even a few cuts to be expected. The Xiaomi AX3000's antennas may be at their limit when compared to rival kits, which are able to maintain more accurate speeds in this situation.

                        6.6BR score
Editor's Rating and Pros and Cons of the Xiaomi AX3000 Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6 System
The Xiaomi AX3000 Mesh System provides reliable WiFi. Wi-Fi 6 is due to the fact that it is a dual-band variant with 802.11ax. The 2.4 GHz band has a theoretical speed of 574 megabits per second, whereas the 5 GHz band has a theoretical speed of 2402 megabits per second. The Xiaomi AX3000 is an amazingly quick and dependable approach to fill in the gaps for those looking to upgrade their Wifi 5 but don't want to spend a lot of time or money. Of course, more expensive mesh kits offer faster speeds and more extensive capabilities, but most will be satisfied with the Xiaomi AX3000's performance for under S$200.

Top 10 Best Mesh Wifi 6 Systems in Singapore

                        What is Wifi 6?

You may be perplexed as to where WiFi 1-5 went, and your concern is understandable. The WiFi Alliance, a non-profit organisation that oversees wireless networking standards, has retroactively incorporated a consumer-facing number system to correspond to legacy IEEE wireless standard names such as 802.11ac and 802.11n. As a result, 802.11ax, the most recent standard released in 2019, has been renamed WiFi 6. (It's also known as “High-Efficiency Wireless” on occasion.) We've put together a comprehensive list of everything new and exciting about WiFi 6, but here's a quick summary: WiFi 6 was developed in anticipation of a wireless future in which there would be an influx of linked devices and competing networks to deal with. It's speedier and was created with the goal of performing effectively in congested networks. It's entirely backwards compatible with all previous hardware, just like all previous standards, thus while only newer devices can fully exploit its potential, it will connect to anything.

What is the advantage of WiFi 6?

WiFi 6 brings a slew of new features to your WiFi experience, including quicker overall speeds and improved performance at the edge of your network's range. The majority of the updates are aimed at better supporting the ever-increasing number of connected devices vying for users' attention.

Does WiFi 6 penetrate walls better?

Yes. WiFi 6 brings back the 2.4 GHz spectrum, which was previously only available on the 5 GHz frequency. Because lower-frequency waves pass through physical interference better than higher-frequency waves, 2.4 is slower than 5 but better at penetrating walls. The 6 GHz signal activated in WiFi 6E provides a quicker connection but is more susceptible to interference from walls.

Are WiFi 6 routers worth it?

Yes. A router is not a gadget that is frequently replaced. Unlike a smartphone, it tends to stay put and perform its function for several years. While Wi-Fi 6 is only now starting to arrive on newer devices (as we noted, it first appeared on the market in late 2019), it will become the expected standard in a few years, much like 802.11ac did. Getting a Wi-Fi 6 router now isn't only excellent for the future; it's actually the only way to get a router that will last more than a year or two.

Do WiFi 6 routers have a better range?

No, not innately. Wi-Fi 6 will increase the quality of your connection and reduce dead zones, but your router's technical range will remain unchanged. Mesh routers are generally your best solution if you require a greater technological range. Wi-Fi 6, also known as Wi-Fi 802.11ax, has a number of advantages, including faster throughput, lower latency, and the ability to connect more devices to the same access point. Gaming, augmented reality, and virtual reality, to mention a few, will benefit greatly from these features. As a result, Wi-Fi 6 routers are excellent gaming routers. You'll need a fast broadband connection to make use of Wi-Fi 6's support for faster speeds, which you'll have to discuss with your internet service provider (ISP).

What is the difference between a traditional router and mesh WiFi?

Traditional Wi-Fi routers act as a single point of entry for your internet and fibre connections. However, if too many connections are made at the same time, bottlenecks can occur, reducing the reliability of a connection. When the number of connections is manageable, traditional routers frequently provide better power and speed than mesh, but mesh provides expanded, blanket coverage and more access points. As a result, cable and classic routers are generally preferable for gaming and streaming, although mesh is a good choice for homes with numerous people and connections.

Which is the right WiFi router for me?

You must first identify what your connection priorities are before upgrading your present router setup or replacing the bog-standard equipment your ISP provided you with — which is often substandard and does not allow consumers to enjoy the full potential of the bandwidth they are paying for. A mesh network is generally the best option if you have numerous tenants and a lot of gadgets at home, especially if you live on a large property. A classic router, on the other hand, may be the best alternative if speed and dependability are more essential to you than coverage possibilities.

Why it's Important to have a Fast Broadband Connection

Singaporeans use the internet more than ever because it gives them access to entertainment, the ability to work, and quick ways to talk to each other. All of these things depend on how fast your broadband connection is.

But what kind of high-speed Internet connection is best for you?

All of these things show how important it is for your family to have a fast broadband connection so that they can go about their daily lives without problems. But your family's needs can be different depending on their ages and what each person does online.

What is bandwidth? And Why it is Important.

Your bandwidth is the most information you can get in a certain amount of time. This is shown in megabits per second or Mbps. Mbps is the number, in millions, of bits of information that your connection can get in one second.

Do you and your family watch much online TV or play many online games? Does your family often use more than one thing at once? If so, you should use a connection with high bandwidth. Families with four or more people should also have a high bandwidth connection. These higher data transfer rates are great for streaming movies and TV shows in 4K UHD and other high-quality formats, as well as for online gaming, like massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) like Final Fantasy XIV or real-time first-person shooters (Online FPS) like the Call of Duty series.

With high bandwidth, everyone in the house can connect to the internet without any problems. If your connection bandwidth is too low, you might have a lot of buffering, freezing, and lagging. This could make it hard for you to enjoy these activities. For a stable internet connection, gamers should always connect their device directly to their router, like with a LAN cable, instead of relying on WiFi. Streaming entertainment systems should also be connected directly with a cable.

How Much Bandwidth Do You Need?

Here are a few quick tips to help you figure out how much bandwidth you need.

Video Streaming: Sites like Netflix, YouTube, and Twitch recommend a 5Mbps connection for full HD content and a 25Mbps connection for 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) content per device.

Smart Home Devices: Most experts say that you should add 5 Mbps to your plan for every 10 smart devices you have. However, some products, like cameras, will need a bit more.

Gaming: You don't need as much bandwidth as you think to play games. Most games require just about a 10Mbps connection per device. If your game is slow, it's probably because of latency.

To figure out how much bandwidth you need, you can do some quick math and make a rough estimate of how many devices will be connected to your network at the same time.
